Tips for using Explorer:

Store information locally
Internet Explorer's off-line browsing capability lets you keep important reference information without going online.  Choose Favorites>Add to Favorites>Make available offline.  Press the customize button to choose what you would like to store and how often to update it. When you pull down the favorites menu, you will see the off-line favorites marked with a red dot.  You can choose these pages, not be online and get  whatever portions of the page you had asked to download.
Change your home page location
by choosing Tools, Internet Options to see the Internet Options dialog box. Click the General tab and type the URL in the Home page Address box.
Search tips -
  • common words and characters are generally ignored such as "where" and "how".  If a common word is essential to getting the results you want, you can include it by putting a "+" sign in front of it. For example try searching for 'how to search'.  You will get a listing of search engines because how to is ignored. If you type '+how to search' you will get a list of websites which will explain the best and fastest methods of finding the information you need.
  • Search for complete phrases by enclosing them in quotation marks. Words enclosed in double quotes ("like this") will appear together in all results exactly as you have entered them.

To quickly find where on webpage your search term is listed. Use the find command of internet explorer.  From the Edit menu, click on find and follow these steps

  • Think of some text you want to find.
  • Choose Edit, Find.
  • Type the text you want to find.
  • Click the Find Next button to start the search.
